The History of Hoag’s Catering
Hoag’s Catering had a humble beginning as a small delicatessen on West High Street in Bellefonte, PA. The small deli was purchased by William J. Moerschbacher after he returned from the Army in 1947. Mr. Moerschbacher had previously worked at the deli while he attended high school.
Older son, Bill Junior and younger son Skip, have each held partnership in the business over the years. A keystone of excellence in customer service, paired with a great “quality to value perception” are philosophies that have kept the business thriving & expanding, even in the most difficult of economic climates.
In 1994, Skip moved the catering business to State College, and established Celebration Hall. Perched on a hillside with views of Mount Nittany, Celebration Hall was a convenient and attractive banquet facility – headquarters to Hoag’s Catering.
After 23 years at Celebration Hall, Hoag’s Catering is evolving again to keep up with the growing demand for outdoor gatherings, rustic weddings, and more intimate ‘at-home’ feel events. Hoag’s is committed to a 100% out-of-house operation. Running our kitchen and offices at 3500 E. College Ave. Suite 1150. We continue to provide catering and event rental services with a high quality and service that the community has come to expect over the past 7 decades.
