Each event deserves to be looked at individually so that the exact size of the tent can be determined based on your personal needs and preferences. The following chart will help you determine the size of tent your event will require.
1st… Select the most appropriate event style from the chart below (Wedding, Cocktail Party, Theatre).
2nd… Determine the subcategory that best suits your event (table type, standing only, chairs in rows).
3rd… Multiply the number of guests by the listed recommended square footage per person.
4th… Add the recommended additional allowances for items such as head tables, buffet areas, bars & dance floors, etc.
WEDDING, DINNER & BANQUET SEATING
8’x30” tables = 12 sq ft per person
5’ round tables = 15 sq ft per person
Standing only = 8 sq ft per person
Partial seating = 10 sq ft per person
CLASSROOM & THEATRE SEATING
Chairs in rows = 8 sq ft per person
Tables & chairs in rows = 10 sq ft per person
Dance floor = 4 sq ft per person
Bar area = 100 sq ft per bar
Buffet area = 200 sq ft per buffet line
Band = 15 sq ft per band member
DJ = 50 sq ft
Head table = 15 sq ft per person
Podium area = 15 sq ft
(Number of guests) x (Recommended sq ft per person) + (Space for head tables, buffet tables, stages, bars, dance floors, band/DJ, etc) = (Total square footage for the event).
It’s always a good idea to add a little additional space for overflow room.
Another important consideration is the amount of space that is available to install the tent. You need to allow a minimum of 5′ of space on each side of your tent. For example, if you have a 40’x40′ space, the largest tent that can be installed is 30’x30′.
